Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) is usually caused by heat, mental or physical tension, or even stress. This medical condition may affect our normal routine life as it can be incredibly disruptive and quite embarrassing – especially when sweat starts dripping off our nose and chin, while the person next to us is totally comfortable.
There are several home remedies that can be very effective for reducing the effects of too much sweating, particularly in the underarms. Check them out below.
Bothe aloe vera juice and gel can be useful if we want to sweat less. It offers a soothing and cooling effect and helps control profuse sweating as well as body odor.
Cut off the green parts of an aloe vera leaf and extract the jelly inside. Blend up the jelly with a blender and pour into a clean glass mason jar, and refrigerate (it keeps for about one week). Take some gel on the cotton and dab it all over the affected areas.
Apple Cider Vinegar
When it comes to controlling excessive sweating, apple cider vinegar (ACV) is perfect. ACV contains strong astringent properties; helps balance the body’s pH levels and removes toxins. It works by narrowing the pores of the armpit thus lowering the amount of sweat that can pass through.
Be sure to use raw, unpasteurized apple cider vinegar. When used internally, we need to mix 2 teaspoons of ACV with 1 teaspoon, raw honey, in a glass of water.
For underarms, simply soak a cotton ball in apple cider vinegar, and then rub the vinegar on the problem areas. Leave the vinegar on the skin overnight, and then take a shower in the morning to wash it off.
The acid in lemon makes it a perfect remedy for naturally reduce excessive sweating. Some of the ways of using it are by rubbing half a lemon on the underarms or mixing it with baking soda and apply it with a cotton pad. Leave the juice on the underarms for 30 minutes and rinse thoroughly.
Coconut oil’s lauric acid fights off bacteria that cause body odor and also detoxifies the skin inside and out. It leaves a sweet and mellow fragrance in the body thus making us feel fresh all day long.
Wipe some coconut oil on the problem areas like the armpit and then pat dry. We can also create a paste by combining 10 grams of crushed camphor and 1 cup of coconut oil. Apply the paste to the problem areas on the body and leave for 45 minutes to an hour.
Rinse it off with water.
Witch hazel acts as an astringent and antiperspirant. It works great against sweaty armpits as it dries out the skin and closes pores to prevent sweating.
We can either apply liquid witch hazel with a cotton ball to the areas that sweat the most or make a paste by combining equal parts water and hazel bark powder. Apply the paste on the skin, and leave it for an hour before rinsing off with water.
