Almost all of us want to improve our skin’s health for us to look better and boost our confidence. But if we are aiming to attain a glowing skin the natural way, adding spices to our daily beauty regimen might be the key to achieve it.

Turmeric

Turmeric has anti-inflammatory qualities, natural-oil controlling properties, and is an antioxidant-rich spice. It works great against acne breakout, reducing inflammation, fighting off early signs of aging such as fine lines and wrinkles, and targeting pores and calming the skin.

One teaspoon each of turmeric, honey and milk cream can be mixed to create a face mask that can give a younger-looking skin. Apply and massage the mixture onto the face using a circular motion and then leave it on for 20 minutes. Wash off.

To fight acne and redness simply mix ½ teaspoon of turmeric with 2 teaspoons of sandalwood and some milk to make a paste. Apply it all over the face and leave it to dry. Wash off and then repeat a few times in a week to see results.

Cinnamon

Aside from spicing up lattes, this flavorful aromatic spice is also a great skincare ingredient. It has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, and antioxidant properties that help nourish the skin, fights acne, eliminates blemishes, and give radiant and smooth skin.

To make a cinnamon face mask, simply mix one tablespoon of cinnamon powder with two tablespoons of honey. Apply this on the desired area and rinse it off after 10 minutes.

We can also add a glow to our skin with the help of a face mask made of cinnamon and banana. This will require us to mash up 1 ripe banana and then add 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder and 2-3 drops of honey to it. Apply this mixture as a face mask and let it dry for 10 minutes. Wash off to reveal soft skin.

Ginger

Sipping a cup of ginger tea is really soothing and refreshing. Aside from its positive effects within our body, this spice can also be a part of our skincare regimen. Ginger is loaded with antioxidants that help improve our skin’s elasticity, make our skin complexion even, wards off signs of aging, and reduces the appearance of scars.

We can have a ginger mask by mixing 1 tablespoon each of grated ginger or ginger powder, lemon juice, and rosewater. Apply the mixture on the face using a cotton ball and leave for at least 10 minutes. Rinse with water.

Black Pepper

Black pepper possesses antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that best woks against acne and skin infections. It is rich in vitamin C and K and acts as a detoxifying agent when applied to the skin. It helps reduce wrinkles, fine line, pigmentation, and blackheads.

Try including it in face scrubs to exfoliate dead skin and stimulate blood circulation causing more oxygen to flow to your face.

A detoxifying face mask can also be made at home by mixing three tablespoons of yogurt and a pinch of black pepper. Apply it on the face but be careful to avoid the areas around the eyes. Wash it off after 15 minutes.
