Every breath we take, every moment we have surrounded with our loved ones, every opportunity we get in life, is a reason to be grateful. Gratitude is the only way we can get more by cherishing what we have.

Robert Emmons, the world’s leading scientific expert on gratitude, claims that gratitude has two components:

“ First, it’s an affirmation of goodness. We affirm that there are good things in the world, gifts, and benefits we’ve received. This doesn’t mean that life is perfect; it doesn’t ignore complaints, burdens, and hassles. But when we look at life as a whole, gratitude encourages us to identify some amount of goodness in our life.

The second part of gratitude is figuring out where that goodness comes from. We recognize the sources of this goodness as being outside of ourselves. We acknowledge that other people—or even higher powers, if you’re of a spiritual mindset—gave us many gifts, big and small, to help us achieve the goodness in our lives.”

Life is hard, indeed, and even when we are so in pain that we no longer have the strength to carry on, we should be grateful for the lessons learned and the new chance to make things better.

The numerous battles in life should stimulate us to grow and improve, but never to lose sight of the beautiful things in life. Optimism is a choice, and we choose whether we will be grateful for the things and people in our lives or we will dwell on negativity that takes over our mind.

The moment you choose gratitude, you shift negativity and start sensing the new possibilities and opportunities.

Let’s all be grateful for the greatest gift we could have been given- life itself.

Let’s be grateful for all the caring people around us, that will support and love us no matter what.

Let’s be grateful for the ones that teach us valuable lessons and make us stronger while they are hurting us.

Let’s be grateful for every new morning, every sunset we get to see, every breeze we enjoy, every smile we witness, for the food we have and the roof above our heads.

Let’s be grateful for our mistakes and flaws, that make us the people we are, unique and beautiful.

It takes great wisdom to be able to find beauty in the smallest things in life and fully live in the present moment.

Yet, instead of focusing on your worries and regrets like many others, be the one that values, the one that is grateful and sees the good in every situation.

Let’s start appreciating who we are and cherish all we have.

“Gratitude turns what we have into enough.”
